CROSS-BORDER COLLABORATIONS
Dot-to-Dot works with at-risk children’s groups on both sides of the U.S./Mexican border such as orphanages, elementary schools, community centers and group homes on a weekly basis. This provides a rare opportunity for the children to collaborate together, utilizing Dot-to-Dot as an art liaison. By using art as the common language, these young artists are immersed in the discovery of each other’s similarities and differences. While making friends, they develop the ability to create lasting regional partnerships.
The classes begin with a series of fun, basic art exercises with each class working as a solitary unit. Later, the classes move toward more experimental and action based projects, which unite the two classes. Artists teach these groups collaboratively creating a dynamic chalkboard experience for everyone involved!
Dot-to-Dot provides and rotates energetic volunteer artist/teachers with innovative projects to develop the above goals.
